Assessments
Necessity Kids conduct our assessments during the school holidays. If you would like your child to have an assessment, please fill in the assessment request and one of our team members will be in touch with you within 24 hours to discuss.
Assessment booking confirmation:
Upon booking your assessment, you will be required to supply your credit card details and a 50% deposit will be deducted to secure your booking. This is non refundable if you cancel within 48hrs of your appointment or fail to attend.
Cancelling of Assessment's can be done up to 48 hours prior to the appointment.
To begin therapy we need to investigate your child’s development and decide what is the best course of therapy.
Sometimes this is an informal chat and play based assessment and other times we need to measure your child against developmental norms for diagnosis and goal setting.
If you have had a screener or assessment from a previous speech therapist and can supply us with a copy of a report then we are happy to put you straight into therapy sessions.
Please let our team know by adding a note on your intake form. One of our intake officers will contact you to attain a copy.

Speech Pathology - in session (30-45minutes) no report
This may just be a quick speech sound review or confirmation of stuttering. Your child would be booked into therapy sessions and the first session will be their therapist confirming the difficulties your child is having. This would be good for a lisp, simple speech sound errors or minor grammatical issues. It may be appropriate for a child with NDIS who has a plan with clear therapy goals.
Cost of this is $110 for 30mins or equivalent (private paying) and $97 for 30 mins or equivalent (NDIS paying).

Speech Pathology - 1 Hour short assessment with report
This may be ideal for previously undiagnosed speech difficulties or younger children who are not saying many words. It may be possible to complete a language assessment on a child under 5 if they don’t have both speech and language issues.
Cost of this is $450 for private paying and $484.98 for NDIS clients.

Speech Pathology - 2 hour long assessment with report.
This is ideal for school aged children who may need a more comprehensive investigation of speech, language and literacy skills.
Cost of this is $650 for private paying and $775.96 for NDIS clients

Early Intervention Functional Assessment (1 hour session/1 hour report writing)
This holistic assessment is for children aged up to 5 years of ages that focuses on all developmental areas (social, emotional, gross and fine motor, cognitive, self-help and communication). This assessment is a great foundational assessment for a child who you believe has a delay in one or more of these developmental areas. Our specialised Early Intervention Teachers will meet with you and your child to discuss each developmental area and engage in some play-based assessments to assess their level of abilities and needs.
Following this assessment, we will provide you with a report (within 2-3 weeks of your assessment) that can be used to support your diagnostic journey or send to your Early Childhood Teacher / Kindergarten Teacher to support your child's Individual Support Plan.
The cost of this assessment is $400 (private paying) or $387.98 (NDIS paying - 2 hrs x $193.99).
